Wrinkles
Wrinkles (also called rhytids) are lines or folds in the skin related to changes in the skin structure. There are two types:
1. Dynamic Wrinkles or “Wrinkles In Motion”
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by overactive muscles that cause folds in the skin or an unwanted expression (such as frown/worry lines, crow’s feet, or “angry 11’s”).
The solution is to relax the muscles under the skin by injecting a natural, purified protein, such as BOTOX® and other relaxers (Dysport® and Xeomin®). It is critical that the injector has expertise in understanding facial anatomy as every BOTOX® patient is treated differently. Several small injections are placed under the skin with a tiny needle in varying concentrations to create a natural smoothing of the skin.
2. Static Wrinkles or “Wrinkles at Rest”
Static wrinkles typically occur as a result of sun exposure, environmental exposure (such as smoking or pollution), as well as your genetics.
The best solution is to change the skin surface (epidermis) and the middle skin (dermis) to stimulate new collagen and elastin, which are the damaged proteins that cause these lines. The optimal treatment for this utilizes various lasers to rejuvenate or renew these dermal skin proteins.
